Cup Success for Boys and Girls

16th Apr 2026

Congratulations to both Birches football teams on their fantastic success at the Birches Blitz competition today.

The girls’ team delivered an outstanding performance, dominating their league and winning every match by a margin of at least four goals. Their consistency, teamwork, and determination were clear to see throughout the tournament.

The boys’ team also showed great resilience and character. Despite a narrow defeat to St Mary’s in their opening game, they responded superbly, finishing the competition strongly, topping the league table, and proudly lifting the trophy.

A huge thank you to Darren Murphy, manager of Loughgall Football Club, for attending the tournament and presenting the trophies. We are also very grateful to local footballers Luke Cartwright and Harry Murphy for taking the time to support the event and inspire our players. Harry also played a vital role by refereeing the girls’ competition.

The boys’ competition was refereed by Robert Davidson, manager of Robert Davidsons Clothes Shop in Portadown. Robert is heavily involved with the IFA and is a great supporter of local football in the area, and we truly appreciate his support.

All teams thoroughly enjoyed the occasion, and we were fortunate to have beautiful sunshine throughout the morning, right up until the trophy presentations. It was a fantastic day of football and celebration for everyone involved.
